00 Lots of Little Domers

Happy winter, classmates. Many of you have joined the new class Facebook page and have responded by sending me great updates. It seems our class family continues to grow, as we have welcomed many new babies. Jon and Katie (Nordahl) Cole welcomed their third child, Emmett, in November 2014. He joined big sister Linnea and big brother Henry. Michael and Lindsay (Papp) Spencer had a baby boy on April 6 in Chicago; his name is Edward William Spencer (Teddy). He joins siblings Marie, Elizabeth, Pierce and George. The family visited campus for one day of our 15-year Reunion in June; Lindsay enjoyed catching up with classmates. On June 21, Jim Zaleta and his wife, Megan McDonald, welcomed their first child, Mackenzie Paige Zaleta. She was born in Greenwich CT, and the Zaleta family lives outside New York City. Dr. Kathleen McCann and her husband, Brian Fitzgerald, welcomed their first child, Tadhg Peadar Fitzgerald, on July 14. She says she has forgiven him for making them miss the 15-year Reunion. But our classmate Dr. Christina Fitch quickly sent him a ND onesie his first week to make sure he was ready for football season. Tim and Cheryl (Asci) Murphy welcomed their first child when Liam Francis Murphy arrived in Boston in August. The family enjoyed cheering on the Irish in the Shamrock Series at Fenway Park this fall. Chelsea (Blasko) Muse and her husband had a son, Bisbee Ignatius Jack Michael Muse, on Sept. 14. He was baptized on Nov. 15 at St. John Berchman’s in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. Chelsea continues to work as director of production at Iron Galaxy Studios in Chicago. Chris and Sandy Sumnar proudly welcomed their third child, Katherine Michelle Sumnar, on Sept 22. Elizabeth and William are excited to have a new sister. Also, Sandy, who manages a sales team at PNC Bank in Detroit, recently received a promotion from business banking market manger to business banking channel manager, resulting in an expansion of her territory to Michigan, Indiana, Central Illinois, Missouri and part of Pennsylvania. Congrats on both bits of news, Sandy. Kimberly (Gatlin) Kerley and her husband, Danny, had their first son, Jase Daniel Kerley, on Aug. 29. The Kerley family makes their home in Houston TX. Congrats to all the new little Domers, and I hope the new parents are all getting some sleep. In addition to new additions, our classmates are also making some strong headway in their careers. This past summer, Beth Burau was selected as one of 20 teachers nationwide to participate in the Goethe Institute Chicago’s first “Sustainability in German Class and in STEM Classes” program. As the German teacher, she was part of a teaching tandem from her high school, Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas TX. Also, Ashley Ameika merged her law firm with her father’s law firm. She is very excited about how busy and blessed she and her firm are. On a personal note, my husband and I welcomed our fourth child in October. Quinn Colleen joins sisters Ryan and Maisie and older brother Will in the O’Malley clan. I also made a bit of a switch in my career, as I transferred from the HIV division at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to a primary care practice, also affiliated with the hospital, in the city. I am on the go both at work and at home. I hope you all are doing great and have enjoyed a great holiday season. 00MBA Getting Together

As far as I know, no one attended the on-campus 15-year Reunion in June, but there have been other get-togethers. Over the summer, Torbin Fuller and Yuko Kikkawa visited the Detroit area and met up with Brian Thomas. Mike and I were lucky to spend time with Torbin and Yuko and their kids at Jill (Vick) and Jason Maki’s house in Ohio. It was great to see all of our kids playing together. We enjoyed a game watch in September at Kelly and *Chuck Alberton’s place. Roxy (Maldonado) and Jason Young were there as well as Sparky, Matt Baumel. Everyone looked great and the good memories of our time together at ND flooded in. Michelle (Carlos) McCauley writes that Kelly and Chuck Alberton hosted a game watch with Roxy and Jason Young, Matt Baumel and John Brust ’01MBA. Michelle writes, “We especially enjoyed meeting Chuck and Kelly’s new addition, Charlie, 1, and hanging out with their precious girls Lily, 5, and Katie, 2. They made raising three kids look like a breeze while we are just getting our sea legs now having three boys. Walker Wells McCauley joined us on May 15 via open adoption. Patrick, 5, and Donovan, 2, are just lovely with him. As for work, I am enjoying my eighth year at Salesforce, taking on a new challenge running renewals strategy and operations. 01 Updates

Kelly Kingsbury Brunetto recently published her first book, Performing the Art of Language Teaching: Deepening the Learning Experience with Theatre and Drama. In addition to publishing a book, Kelly has had a busy few years. She and her husband, Damien, welcomed a daughter, Cecilia Anastasia. Kelly also finished her PhD and then accepted a job as assistant professor of practice in modern languages and coordinator of the basic Spanish program at the U of Nebraska-Lincoln. Congratulations to Garrett Zoeller, who married his partner, Robert Kerchner, in July on a mountaintop in Telluride CO. Ryan Dick and Carolyn Allen were in attendance. Garrett recently moved to Portland OR for a pediatric neurosurgical position at Legacy Health/Randall Children’s Hospital. Nathaniel R. Sinn joined the law firm of Buckley King as an associate in its Cleveland office. Nate represents financial institutions involving distressed loans and property, workouts, secured transactions, creditors’ rights-related litigation, receiverships and bankruptcy. In August, Heriberto Rodriguez married Analisa Andry ’07 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and celebrated with a wonderful reception at The Morris Inn. Joey Gonzalez and his wife, Mia, served as the best man and woman, respectively, and Carlos Garcia was a groomsmen. The Rodriguezes reside in San Antonio TX and work for H-E-B, where they met. Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Women Who Mean Business Awards honor 15 women a year from various industries and professions. Nominees are women who are making a difference in their communities, blazing a trail for others to follow and leaving indelible marks on the city’s business community. In October, Ann Miller Hanlon was thrilled to be a recipient of a Women Who Mean Business Award. It was very exciting to see T. Drew Mitchell and Mike Doyle ’12 on ABC’s television show Shark Tank to pitch their business Rent Like a Champion, which they started at Notre Dame with Derrick Shenk and Jordan Curnes. Drew and Mike were successful and secured a $200,000 investment for future expansion of the company. In October, Ben Beshalske married Andrea Bidlencik in Chicago. Best Man Zak Kordik gave a memorable speech, while Joe Bonavita and Joe Feeser served as groomsmen. CJ Murray and I attended the wedding, along with many other ND graduates. Davorin Odrcic wrote a book for the Wisconsin State Bar, Immigration Consequences of Wisconsin Criminal Offenses. It took him three years to write. What an accomplishment, Dav. Marjorie McCanta High is happy to have returned to work after eight years of working at home managing her family. She accepted a six-month contract with the Northwest Justice Project where she is representing survivors of domestic violence in family law actions. Chris Riley is doing well following surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. Keep him in your prayers, although based on his Facebook posts, his sense of humor and hair are intact. After 16 years in South Bend, Tom Mauch moved to the warmer climate of Orlando; no more lake effect snow for him. He is vice president and associate general counsel of Faro Technologies in Lake Mary FL. He bought a house, so he’s really staying. Alejandro Mauch has given up a life of partying on the weekends and dedicated himself to serving the Center for the Homeless in South Bend. I’m going to miss Alejandro. Tom Olohan, a FBI supervisory special agent assigned to the Washington Field Office, was awarded a 2015 FBI Director’s Award for Excellence due to his work in a sensitive human source operation run jointly with the Department of Defense. The annual Director’s Awards for Excellence, the highest honor given by the FBI, recognize outstanding contributions and exceptional service to the FBI and its mission. Tom was also honored with a 2015 Anti-Defamation League Shield Award for his role in an investigation that resulted in an arrest and incarceration. The Shield Award annually recognizes law enforcement professionals for major successes in the fight against hate crimes, extremism and terrorism, and for protecting civil rights. Also in 2015, Tom was awarded the ODNI Intelligence Integration Unit Citation Award at a ceremony in CIA headquarters, Langley VA. The Notre Dame tradition continues in the Olohan household with the eldest of Tom’s 11 children preparing to graduate from Notre Dame in 2016. I was lucky enough to go to the UMass game with Kathleen Lundy. We got to catch up with Stephanie Renner and Julie Foster at Sarah Bassler Millar’s fantastic tailgate. Plan to attend our 15-year Reunion, which is scheduled for June 2-5, 2016. Rumor has it that there will be a barbecue at Rudy Monterrosa’s house. 02 In Memory of Oscar Alvarez

It is with great sadness that I report that we lost another of our own when Oscar Alvarez died on Aug. 27 in a single car accident in Malibu CA on his 35th birthday. After many years with General Electric, Oscar joined TOMS in 2014, working as a finance manager. Oscar was a fellow resident of Morrissey Manor, and after all these years, I remember his warm smile and kindness for all he encountered. I lit a candle at the Grotto this fall for Oscar and all of our classmates we’ve lost too soon. Please keep Oscar and his family and friends in your prayers. In much happier news, I’m guest-writing this column for our dedicated class secretary Lisa (Sestile) Corcoran because she, husband Shawn and big brothers Logan and Connor were preparing for the arrival of Maggie Janice. Maggie was born on Oct. 29 and will someday wish she could remember her time spent living in Hawaii. Former class secretary Kathleen (O’Connor) and Paul Ricketts welcomed Finn Joseph on Feb. 28, 2015. He joins big brothers Jack and Connor. Kelly (Perry) and Matt Buyske and their five boys welcomed a baby girl, Miriam Angela, on Oct. 11. The Buyske clan lives in Anacortes WA, where Matt is a pilot with VR-61 on Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Kelly devotes her days to managing the craziness of five boys and heading up the children’s choir at church, where she sneaks in Folk Choir favorites whenever possible. Nathalie and James Andry welcomed twins Lucas and Eva in August. James was named a professor of surgery in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Creighton U School of Medicine and practices in Phoenix. Elizabeth (Roggi) and Paul Guzzetta welcomed their third child, James Joseph, on Sept. 24. James joins big sister Anne Elizabeth and big brother Paul Michael III. They reside in Fredericksburg VA, where Paul is an interventional radiologist and Elizabeth is a consultant for Guggenheim Partners. Aly and Chris McBride celebrated the arrival of Molly Estelle on Sept. 4. The McBride family resides in Philadelphia. Sara (Elfring) and John Taggart ’01 welcomed son Luke Sorin on July 24. Luke joins big brothers Josh and Zach. Yoshiko and Kyle Demko welcomed son Joseph Alfred on Oct. 18. The Demkos live in Tokyo and were hosting the Notre Dame Club of Japan for a USC game watch when Yoshiko went into labor, forcing her to remove herself from the game-related excitement on several occasions to “not have a baby.” I am sure Kyle has filled Joe in on what he didn’t have a chance to see in the fourth quarter. My old roommate Jeff Wittich married Meghan Vaughn last January in Sonoma CA. Beth (Sheehan) Silker and I joined Stephen Wolf, Kevin Brandl, Bill Ferguson, Katie Koch, Peter Rossmann, Doug McKenna ’01 and their spouses to celebrate the nuptials. Jeff and Meghan live in the Bay Area, where Jeff works for Intel. Liz (Seibold) Berrill was promoted to partner in the Chicago office of Deloitte’s audit practice. Liz and Kevin, who is an assistant state’s attorney in Lake County IL, are parents of two happy boys, Jack and Ryan. Sommelier Katie (Weil) Coker opened Esters Wine Shop & Bar in a 1930s Art Deco building in Santa Monica CA. 02JD Reality TV Star

You may have recognized a familiar face as you scrolled through cable TV in October. Abe Moore and his wife, Desiree, were profiled on House Hunters International as they searched for a new home in Doha, Qatar, where Abe is a partner at K&L Gates. The episode is called Qatar Hero and continues to air on HGTV. Abe tells me that Fred Rocafort visited with them as he passed through town in October. Fred is living and working in Hong Kong. Jennifer Byrns married Phil Bartok ’04PhD in a beautiful ceremony in Tivoli, Italy, just outside Rome. Phil and Jennifer have two boys, Zachary and Malik, and Jennifer is a staff attorney with the New Mexico Court of Appeals. Congrats to Trish O’Donnell on the birth of her second daughter. Nora Eileen Canon arrived on Oct. 15 and watched her first ND game two days later against USC from the hospital. She must have brought good luck to the Irish. Trish, husband Carlos and daughter Ciara are excited that Nora is finally here. Ron Banerji reports that he joined the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas in September 2014. He is in the criminal division and prosecutes federal drug and immigration crimes. On a personal note, I lost my mother in August and was touched by the outpouring of support from our classmates, including many who traveled from near and far to be with me at the wake and funeral. 03MBA From MBA to PhD

Congratulations to John Wisneski. He defended his dissertation in August and earned his PhD in instructional systems technology from Indiana U. John chose to stay in Bloomington and accepted a role as a clinical assistant professor in the management and entrepreneurship department at the Kelley School of Business. He primarily teaches corporate strategy in the MBA program while his research focuses on the transfer of knowledge within the enterprise. As John is only three hours from South Bend, he makes it up to campus for just about every home football game. He notes that lamp post 8 in the Joyce lot is where he can be found. Chase (Phillips) Olson and her husband, Chad, welcomed their third child, David Wallace Olson, on Oct. 21, 2014. Chase was still so fired up after the Florida State game that she was induced. The family resides in Madison; Chase and her husband work at Epic. David “eloped” for his Baptism. He was baptized in New Buffalo MI. His parents, godparents Erin (Mulvaney) and Jon Callahan and close friends Sarah (Novak) and Dave Nesbitt (David’s big sister’s godparents) were vacationing together. Brendan Prendergast and wife Rachel welcomed their second child, daughter Auguste Lily, on June 26. Big brother Blaise is very proud. Merrie Cousins recently moved back to the Pittsburgh area and is working as a general pediatrician for Pediatric Alliance at the Wexford Health and Wellness Pavilion. Olga M. Urbieta-DiStefano was married on July 9 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Telluride CO to Chad W. DiStefano. Brett, Jim and Freddy served as groomsmen. Courtney and Ryan are living in Minneapolis. Ryan is a partner at Winthrop & Weinstine, where he specializes in working with emerging companies and entrepreneurs. Over the last few years, he has carved out a cool industry niche representing craft breweries. “Beer law” is becoming the majority of his practice. He has also been at the forefront of the crowdfunding movement and was the author of Minnesota’s new crowdfunding law. 04MBA Future Stars and the Cubs

Beau Kautzman and Caroline Norris Kautzman accompanied their daughters Alexandria and Michaela to Lake Placid in September as they trained at the Olympic Training center. Alexandra and Michaela are dancers and competitive rhythmic gymnasts, and Alexandra was named to the 2015 Future Stars national team for promising gymnasts under 12. Beau is in his eighth year with NBC Universal in LA and is still developing and managing his sports side project buzztap.com. Caroline is usually driving the kids around, teaching a little ballet and writing. Rodolfo Bollat-Montenegro and his brother Rodrigo ’13 flew into South Bend to meet up with their brother Javier, a current MBA student, for the USC game. Rodolfo and his brothers met up with me on campus, and Rodolfo was happy to not let another Cubs postseason collapse go to waste as he made sure I had scoring updates during each game as the Mets swept the Cubs out of the playoffs. 05 Another Year of Exciting Life Events

On one of the first sunny spring days in New York City, April 11, Meghan Krasula and Michael Robustelli (College of the Holy Cross ’03) were married at The Shrine Church of Saint Anthony of Padua. They were surrounded by their parents (Alice and Dave Krasula, Anne Robustelli), siblings, extended family and friends from Long Island, New Jersey, Chicago, South Carolina and North Carolina. Quite a few Notre Dame alums were in attendance including: matron of honor and sister of the bride Deirdre (Krasula) Delaney ’09; bridesmaids Annie (Rohrs) Jazlowiecki, Christina (Aune) Christopoulos and Emily (Fallon) Coughlin ’04; groomsmen Tony DeVito as a part of the Buttonwood contingent; brother in law Bryan Delaney ’08, ’09 MBA; and guests: Kristin Boyd, Erin (Ennes) Whitworth, Chelsea DeVito, Katie (Fiorda) Lynch, Brendan Lynch, Shannon (McGonigle) Sepe, Paul Sepe ’01, Jan (Wohrle) Stebbins, Mary Kate Castellani, Katie Thompson, Caitlin (Smith) Hoehn. Kate (Lindsey) Hagan welcomed baby boy no. 2, Jack Fuller Hagan, in March 2013. Later that year, she went back to school and earned her BSN from George Mason U in August 2014. Kate officially became an RN just before Christmas that year and is working her dream job as a labor and delivery nurse at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. She was planning to return to campus for the first time since graduation this fall for the USC game and can’t wait to show her husband Patrick her old stomping grounds. Mike McCusker, fondly known by many friends as Country, was ordained a priest on Sept. 12 at St. Louis Abbey. Aside from his new priestly duties, he will be teaching freshmen and sophomores at his alma mater, St. Louis Priory School, as well as working in the office of admissions. In other exciting news, after a multi-year hiatus Brian “Bucket” Cullen’s doppelganger is back in action. He was spotted hailing a taxi on 8th Avenue in late October, wearing a long wool trench coat. 05JD Photos on 50-Yard Line

Caroline Hoenk married Mike Vazquez in early October. Because the wedding took place during an away-game weekend, they were able take some pictures on the 50-yard line of Notre Dame Stadium. Kelly Glynn and Adrienne Quarry were members of the wedding party. Caroline began a new job in late September as head of communications for Enova, a global financial technology firm. They celebrated their honeymoon with a trip to Thailand in November. John Park is a partner in the employment practice at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP in Nashville, where he represents national and local employers facing allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful discharge arising under all major federal and state employment laws. He reports that life is going well in the Music City. While showing my girlfriend our campus for the USC game in October, I ran into several of our classmates. Paul Harold was there with his wife, Brenda, and their six children. We were joined by Ellen Higgins-Reilander, whose husband, Luke, is an attorney at Hunt Suedhoff Kalamaros LLP. His firm is located in the same building as Paul’s in South Bend. I also ran into Tim Storino, carrying one of his kids on his shoulders. He and Maggie (Hanel) were back for the game and also for the baptism of their third child in the Log Chapel. 06 Taking the Plunge

Casey Dunne married her best friend Mike Pelzl on Aug. 8 in a poolside ceremony in San Diego. Domers in attendance included Catherine Dunne ’08, Lindsay (May) Wittman, Michael Schmitt and Eric Hansen ’03. Everyone ended up in the pool by the end of the evening. Maureen (McCormick) Harlow and husband James welcomed a daughter, Isabel Catherine, on Dec. 4, 2014. Roger Knight married Scotty Brown on June 28 at the Chicago Pride Parade, two days after the historic US Supreme Court decision on marriage equality. The couple met in Florida at the Notre Dame-Alabama 2013 National Championship game while cheering for opposite teams. The couple resides in Chicago, where Roger works in health communication at Northwestern U and Scotty is an advertising consultant at Apartments.com. Father Justin, OP, (Christopher Brophy) finished his assignment at Providence College and is back at Notre Dame to pursue a doctorate in political science. Cari Knapp married Richard Adams ’14MBA on Aug. 15 in Chicago. The ceremony took place at Old St. Patrick’s Church, and the reception was held at the Palmer House in downtown Chicago. Cari and Rich reside in Chicago, where Cari is a high school math teacher and Rich is a client executive at IBM. Joe Trombello has been promoted to assistant professor of psychiatry at the U of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He works as a psychologist in the Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care. Joe is also an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Southern Methodist U, where he supervises graduate students on their psychotherapy cases. Kate Distler married Ken Michelson at the Buffalo Lodge outside of Kansas City MO on Aug. 29. ND friends in attendance included bridesmaid and 202 roommate Christin (O’Brien) Nohnher, Joe Nohner, Patricia Adams, Damian Althoff, Beth (Martter) Mulhall, Renee Gipson, Liz (Berry) Gluck, Erika (Gurrola) Chavez and me. Kate and Ken are pediatricians in Boston, wear glasses and have an affinity for good food. Stay tuned for the final 202 wedding featuring Renee Gipson and Dan Stock in St. Louis in December 2015. Mary Squillace married non-Domer Jeremy Repanich in Mexico last Halloween. 07JD Verdict

Sorry, but here it goes. Patrick Salvi ’78JD and I achieved a $15.2 million verdict on behalf of a man who had his foot run over by a forklift at McCormick Place in Chicago. We were joined by Jeffrey Kroll, who is a great guy but not an NDLS graduate. I didn’t get any submissions this time, so I was tempted to put in a few more things about myself, like my favorite Grateful Dead live version of “Shakedown Street” or why I agree that the Notre Dame football team deserved to be no. 5 in the initial college football playoff rankings. Despite the rare Los Angeles rainstorm and midterms, Tae Kang and his UCLA master’s of public policy classmates defeated a group of feisty undergrads 13-6 to advance in the intramural playoffs. The comeback would have made DeShone Kizer and KeiVarae Russell proud. Katie Guida started her first year of medical school at The George Washington U School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Sara Carter graduated from U of Washington MBA program in June and relocated from Seattle to Los Angeles in August. Julie (Kessler) and Nicholas Houpt welcomed their third baby and first daughter, Norah Marie, on Feb. 26, 2015. Nick and Julie are convinced she did a high five with Father Ted at the gates of heaven, as he passed that day. The family is settling in Dallas and just bought their first home. Father Innocent Smith, OP, (Philip Carl Smith) was ordained to the priesthood on May 22 at St. Dominic’s Church in Washington DC. He is assigned to the Priory of St. Vincent Ferrer in New York City. Kim Murphy married Craig O’Brien in Pittsburgh in September 2014. Regina Gesicki and Ann Mason ’08SMC were in the bridal party. In April, Kerri Keselowsky married Alexander Browne MD on Topsail Island NC. They had a beautiful sunny day and celebrated on the beach. Classmates Lara Miramontes, Alicia Miramontes, Blair Mlnarik Pircon, Elizabeth Nell, Julie Foote and Nicholas Keselowsky ’12 were in attendance. The couple met in medical school. Alex is a gastroenterology fellow at Brown U, and Kerri is in her last year of OB/GYN residency at Rutgers U. Michael O’Connor married Alexandra Montgomery on June 6 in Mystic CT. Carroll Hall was well represented with Peter Hadley as best man and Jimmy Buffi, Jarrett Lantz, Kerry O’Connor, Joe Murphy, Joe Powers, Joe Schonhoffand Nick Zarazua in attendance. John Biddle, Kelsey (Montalto) Klupchak, Mike Jordan Laskey, Katie (Helm) McKiernan and a number of family and friends from other ND and ACE years attended. Michael and Alexandra live in Boston. Katie Jannazo married Eric Johnson on June 6 at a small ceremony at the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs. Her bridesmen included Tony Jannazo ’05 and Joey Jannazo. Katie is deployed supporting Air Force operations for Operation Inherent Resolve. Mary Catherine (Flaherty) and Joe Unis had twins on June 30. They are Joseph Anthony Unis III and Mary Frances. The babies were baptized at the Log Chapel on Sept. 6 following the season home-opener against Texas. Sara (Cermak) and Stephen Adamo welcomed their first child, William Francis Adamo, on July 8. Everyone is doing well. Joshua Talley married Courtney Parry ’09SMC, ’10MS at the Basilica on Aug. 1. A festive crowd of Domers attended, and their extended wedding party included: Will McLeod ’08,’10MS; Kerri Dugan ’09, ’10MS; Dan Justice; Maura Galbraith Justice ’09,’10MS; Mike Albrecht and Rory Carmichael. The newlyweds live in Charlotte. Josh works for IBM, and Courtney is with Deloitte. Tara Carey became engaged to Joe Schuppig ’05 at the Grotto before the Texas game. The couple will wed June 11 in South Bend. Ryan Milligan and his wife, Kiera, celebrated the birth of daughter Hannah on Sept. 19. On Sept. 19, Sean Cullen and Blake Rambo ’11JD were married at the Inn of Erlowest in Lake George NY with many 2008 Domers in attendance. On Oct. 30, Garrett Mandeville celebrated his 30th birthday with many friends including plenty of ’08ers including Tara Carey, Bridget Keating, Laura Miller, Patrick O’Brien and Greg O’Donnell. Garrett’s golden birthday ended with a celebration at Corby’s. The costumed fun continued as many classmates gathered to celebrate the 30th birthday of Mary Pat Collins on Oct. 31. T. Drew Mitchell ’01, ’08MBA and Mike Doyle ’12 appeared on ABC’s television show Shark Tank to pitch their business Rent Like a Champion, which they started at Notre Dame with Derrick Shenk ’01 and Jordan Curnes ’01 while Mitchell was in business school. Mark Cuban and Chris Sacca invested in the company together, receiving a 10 percent stake in the company in exchange for $200,000. Congrats to Joe Uttech and his wife, Kate, who welcomed their second child, Maggie Louise, born on Nov. 4. Shawtina Ferguson writes that she is excited to begin her term as the chair of the State Bar of California’s Young Lawyers Association. It is the largest association of young lawyers in the country. Way to go, Shawtina. Additionally, she misses everyone and extends an invitation to visit her the next time anyone is in LA. She says that there are enough NDLS grads to fill an oversized booth at a local brewery. Ryan Schaffer accepted a position as assistant regional counsel at the office of the general counsel for the Social Security Administration. His responsibilities include disability litigation in federal court, overseeing labor and employment relations and applying privacy and disclosure rules. Fellow Domer and husband of Sherene (Awad) Jodrey, Jared Jodrey ’06JD works for the same office but is on a fraud prosecution detail at the Dept. of Justice. In November, G Costa moved to Pierre SD to be the general counsel for the South Dakota Board of Regents, which oversees the public colleges and universities in the state. Chris Wilson moved to Weston MA in February 2015 and was elected to the partnership of Goodwin Procter LLP in October. Chris adds that most importantly, wife Michelle and daughter Annabelle Rose are doing well and Annabelle is just starting to speak. Neha (Bansal) and Will Hannan announce the arrival of new daughter Leela Róisín on Sept. 30. Leela joins big brother Brian. Daniel Carrillo-Gunning and wife Erin joyfully welcomed their future Domer, son Caden Michael, in June. He is adored by his loving family, most especially by his grandpa, Robert W. Burke ’69. Anna and Adam Prizio celebrated the birth of their first child, Johanna Rose, in August. Adam just had his one-year anniversary of fighting for the civil rights of people with disabilities as manager of government affairs at the Center for Disability Rights in Albany NY. Jenny (Crane) Carroll shared that her son David Michael arrived on Aug. 24 and passed away on Aug. 28 from an inoperable congenital heart defect. Jenny said that she, her husband Jack and daughter Abby were joyful to announce David’s arrival, even though they had to include the notice of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Jenny. Finally, in memory of Kyle D. Smith, the Class of 2008 Mock Trial Award fund has been established at NDLS. Susan (Bigelow) and Drew Reynolds joyfully welcomed their daughter Nora Clare on Feb. 24, 2015. Nora was baptized on Easter and her godmother is Erin Ramsey-Tooher. Mary Kaminski married Daniel Coughlin in Santa Fe on Sept 26. Allison Fullenkamp and Kathleen Rooney were bridesmaids, and more than 20 members of our class were in attendance. Ryan Winiarski married Natalie Ruth on Sept. 12 at St Joseph’s in Chicago with a reception at Union Station. The wedding party included Lennie Giannone, Max Hanson, Tony Schiazza and Kevin Veselik, and many other 2009 classmates were in attendance. He graduated from Chicago Booth in June and started at PwC strategy as a consumer and retail consultant. Eileen (Zander) and David Surprenant ’12 celebrated their marriage at the Basilica with family and friends on June 27, steps away from where they met and got engaged in the Dome. David is completing his fourth year of medical school in Chicago, and Eileen is entering her sixth year in undergraduate admissions at ND and is set to graduate with her master’s in nonprofit administration from the Mendoza College of Business in December 2015.
