Megan Rogers ’04, director of legal affairs for the Cleveland Browns, was a consultant on the movie Draft Day. She also served as inspiration to Jennifer Garner, who played a character loosely based on Rogers and her job as a “capologist,” the person who oversees the salary cap issues faced by a sports team. “Well, in preparing for the role I just did everything Megan does,” Garner said. . . . Parade magazine’s annual “What People Earn!” salary survey included Jerry McKenna ’62 of Boerne, Texas, who listed his yearly compensation as $85,000. The sculptor is responsible for many works seen around the ND campus, including those of the football coaches that encircle the stadium. . . . It took Eliza Gedney ’11 four hours and 33 minutes to finish the 2014 Boston Marathon, but her journey actually began a year earlier when she suffered burns, shrapnel wounds and a ruptured eardrum in the bomb blast on Boylston Street as she headed to a restaurant to meet friends to celebrate Patriots’ Day. The 25-year-old resident of Stamford, Connecticut, also helped raise money for the Boston One Fund, which supports and provides aid for the Boston bombing victims. . . . Colleen Nolan ’10 jetted to Portlaoise, Ireland, to represent the city of Chicago at the regional preliminary to the Rose of Tralee International Festival, three nights of music, dancing and celebrations of Irish heritage in Kerry, Ireland. The finance associate competed against 70 other women of Irish descent from Dublin to Dubai for the chance to advance to the August event. . . . Cellist Benjamin Schwartz ’93 headed Down Under earlier this year to serve as director of artistic planning for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. . . . Roche Schulfer ’73, executive director of Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, was honored for his 40 years of service to the world-renowned regional theater with a star on the “Walkway of Stars” beneath the Goodman marquee. . . . Despite their industry’s struggles, some newspaper reporters are going strong. Tim Logan ’01 recently left the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for the Los Angeles Times, where he will report on housing and residential real estate. And Sarah Mervosh ’12 of the Dallas Morning News won a Barbara Jordan Media Award, presented to those whose work “accurately and positively reports on individuals with disabilities,” for her story on Lauren Scruggs, who was injured in 2011 by a rotating airplane propeller. . . . Making sure you can savor your favorite tuna dish is attorney Susan Jackson ’86. She heads the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation, whose mission includes “the long-term conservation and sustainable use of tuna stocks.” . . . The San Francisco-based nonprofit ScholarMatch helps low-income students navigate the college admission and financial aid processes and also offers need-based scholarships. Executive director Diana Adamson ’02 says the group works with admissions officers from Notre Dame and other institutions that “support students deeply and completely.” . . . The Wall Street Journal offered a peek last year at Notre Dame’s endowment investment team, including Michael Donovan ’84, Paul Buser ’03 and their leader, Scott Malpass ’84, noting that “all 17 investment staff members are graduates of Notre Dame, and all say they are obsessed with their alma mater.” . . . Monsignor Michael James Sis ’82 was installed as the sixth bishop of the Diocese of San Angelo, Texas, in January. He was ordained in 1986 as a priest for the Diocese of Austin, where he recently had been serving as vicar general. . . . Molly Hayes ’08, the Kenya Desk Officer at the Department of State, was awarded a 2014 George J. Mitchell Scholarship. She majored in English and Arabic at Notre Dame and will pursue a master’s degree in Irish literature at National University of Ireland, Maynooth. . . . The National Science Foundation has named Thomas J. Schriber ’57, a professor in the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, as one of its Pioneers of Simulation for his 1960s and ’70s research in computer-based modeling.
