Men of Spirit Men of Sports
by Wally Carew (Ambassador Books)
Wally Carew’s father was a coach, and the boy lived and breathed sports. As an adult, Carew spent 25 as a sportswriter and columnist for newspapers in New England. He is now a freelance writer and a regular contributor to The Boston Pilot.
A reviewer in the Boston Globe noted: "_Men of Spirit, Men of Sports_ is about tough guys with a strong faith in God, and about how the games little boys play help form them as men. Carew profiles several sports figures of extraordinary faith . . . he has a gift for mixing tenderness with toughness, as you might expect from an altar boy who also played linebacker. "
