45 War Service Remembered
I thought it was time to say goodbye, in spirit, to all the gentlemen of this class I never actually knew. I have enjoyed reaching out to you via phone and mail. It has been a wonderful experience that just happened, thankfully, based on a phone call. Those I truly got to know, I think of you often. You would all be over 100 and would have celebrated your 80th reunion last summer. I think of you all on yet another cold, gray October night, smiling with your Irish eyes, willing that game-ending interception against USC and cheering loudly. You have watched your team shake down the thunder and the loyal sons and daughters stand, link arms and sway to our great alma mater. But wait! It’s not the end: John Knorr contacted me at Thanksgiving. He lives at The BeeHive in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and at 101 was honored for his WWII service.
