20JD No Winter Blues Here
Subdue your winter blues with some exciting class news! Congratulations to Braden Murphy and his wife on the birth of their third daughter, Ingrid, in late July. Classmates Hannah (McCausland) and Chris Gerace welcomed their second child, Theo Gabriel, on Sept. 25. Many blessings to your beautiful, growing families. Dominique (Fry) Casey started a new role at the Chicago office of Jones Day, joining many of our fellow classmates. She will be working in the firm’s Capital Markets practice. Alex Kurrie started a new associate role at Wilson Elser in NYC, handling complex tort and general casualty litigation matters. I’m praying for and thinking of you all, always. Greetings, Irish Nation, and happy holidays! Or perhaps happy post-holidays! I’m not entirely sure when this bad boy will be published, but I hope everyone had an opportunity to disconnect this holiday season and spend some good old-fashioned quality time with friends, family and chosen family as needed. One other note, our very first Class Reunion will be happening this upcoming summer! So, mark your calendars for June 4 - 7 and if you know you’re coming, the registration page is live: reunion.nd.edu. Without further ado, the much-anticipated and highly sought-after life updates! As per usual, we are going to start aboard the love train. Kicking things off, Kelsey Brigati got engaged to Jackson Lynn (from Birmingham AL) and started a new job as an architect at Blume Architecture & Interiors in Dallas. Also, it was the summer of Nicole Rose Lukesh: In July, Nicole Rose obtained a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the U of North Carolina. Additionally, Nicole Rose and Patrick Sansone got engaged. They plan on a spring wedding at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. Nicole Rose is employed as a senior scientist at Merck Pharmaceuticals in Rahway NJ, while Patrick is a medical physicist with Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown PA. The couple will reside in NJ. Next up, Carolyn Nilsen and Patrick O’Connor got married at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on June 7. Maria Lengwin and Luke Williams were wed on Oct. 18 in an intimate mountain ceremony in UT! Last for the love train, Eleanor Kinyon and Ben Phelan were married in Washington DC in August. In other news of moves and nomadism, Mason Sponem relocated from Madison WI to Tuscaloosa AL, while Grace Wiechart and Liam McPhillips are spending a year as pet-sitting digital nomads! Liam and Grace have both given up their leases in NYC with the goal to explore new parts of the US while working remotely. How do you fund such a trip, you may ask? Pet-sitting! Grace and Liam are watching people’s pets while they travel in exchange for a place to stay in a cool area that they want to spend some time in. Over the coming months, they’ll be spending time in Seattle, San Francisco, LA, San Diego and more! Liam and Grace ask that you reach out if you’re in one of those areas, especially if you want to meet some funky dogs and cats along the way! Last, but certainly not least, Jack Edwards started an audiovisual company in Dallas called Starlight AVL that developed an iOS app — PageMinder! Congrats, all, on some amazing life accomplishments and milestones! As always, for those of you reading along, don’t be shy! 23 Happy Times
Ella Cate Hungeling and Max Forbes became engaged in Bainbridge Island WA! It’s hard to express my full excitement over Class Notes, but this is the best news ever! It feels like just yesterday we were disco rolling around the Michiana Roller Skating Rink in fall 2019 and now two of my favorite people in the world are getting married. James Plaschke started a new job in consumer success and post sales implementations at an AI startup in Boston. Jake Lowry is now blond! Cincinnati misses Abby Urban dearly. She relocated to Philadelphia where she is the co-host of PHL17’s Positively Philly. Abby, Payton Renz and Matt Kraft are representing the Class of 2023 well in the City of Brotherly Love. Bridget Doody is doing amazing in Kalamazoo MI. I am currently 0 - 5 in fantasy football, while Abby Helenbrook is 5 - 0. A belated congratulations to Sarah and Joshua Lacoste on their recent wedding and early career accomplishments! After graduating, they began prestigious clerkships in FL — Sarah with Chief Justice Carlos G. Muñiz of the FL Supreme Court and Josh with District Judge Federico A. Moreno of the Southern District of FL. They now work together as associates in the litigation practice at Kirkland & Ellis in Miami. We’re proud of you both — Go Irish! Julianna Whitecotton and Tim Sullivan were married in late July in Indianapolis. Congratulations to you both! Over in the city of brotherly love: Carlie Servinski, Jason Roman, Matt Lee and Anna Nunag clinched* a spot in the playoffs in their Philadelphia kickball league (*all teams qualify for playoffs). They are now accepting new members for next season! Megan Fries and Grace Driewer ran in the Lincoln marathon. Megan also competed in the Charlevoix MI marathon while Grace completed a Half Ironman out in Madison WI!
