21 Reunion Time
Greetings, Irish Nation, and good news! We did it! By now the nasty stretches of winter are in the rearview mirror, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and … the bones are aching? That’s right, if you’re starting to feel old, you’ve got good reason — our first Reunion is June 4 - 7. We will have lots of fun programming and social events, including a special Q&A with one M. Freeman of Notre Dame football at our June 5 Class of 2021 dinner, so sign up at reunion.nd.edu and learn more about our class-specific programming here: tinyurl.com/ND21Reunion. Without further ado, the much anticipated and highly sought-after life updates! As per usual, we are going to start aboard the love train with a gaggle of engagements and weddings galore! Kicking things off, Kendall Heinzmann and Francis Schickel ’20 got married on Jan. 17 in Fair Haven VT! Also getting married were Tiffany Pages-Sanchez and William Horvath on Aug. 9, 2025, at St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. We also had some Domer engagements! Abigail Orsinelli and Luke Giannetta were engaged on Oct. 18, 2025. Julia Goldschmidt and Ethan Sunshine also got engaged this past November, after meeting their first week of freshman year at Notre Dame! Their wedding is set for this coming August in Bryn Mawr PA. And our final engagement for this edition belongs to Alex Weishan, who got engaged to Emily Strah. They are both teachers at Mount St. Mary Catholic High School in Oklahoma City. The surprise engagement took place in front of the entire student body and staff at the winter pep rally at The Mount. In other news, John Hlavin completed his Ph.D. in environmental science and policy from the U of Miami. He spent his time researching shark ecology and accepted an offer to be a tenure-track assistant professor of marine science (vertebrate ecologist) at Eckerd College starting fall 2026. Finally, David Bender joined the law firm Barrett McNagny LLP as an associate on the litigation team. David will focus his practice in the areas of business and commercial litigation and insurance defense. Congrats, all, on some amazing life accomplishments and milestones! 22 Vows, Weddings and New Beginnings
Spring has brought joyful milestones and exciting transitions for members of the Class of ’22. We begin with wonderful vocational news. Sr. Abigail Margaret (Maggie Garnett) professed her first vows as a Sister of Life in July 2025. The Mass of Profession included the joyful singing of the alma mater, with classmates Br. Joshua Miriam, CFR, and Br. Andrew Mary, OP, assisting at the liturgy. Sr. Abigail Margaret has been missioned to the Sisters of Life retreat house, Villa Maria Guadalupe, in Stamford CT, where she helps welcome retreatants from across the country. Family celebrations have also filled the year. Susan Adofo and her husband, Sam Adofo ’20, recently celebrated their daughter’s first birthday in October. Susan reports that their “darling, bright little girl” is thriving, and the family is preparing for a move from NJ to CT to be closer to relatives. Sam has also joined the Knights of Columbus. Wedding bells rang for several classmates. Mary Claire (Lewis) McGlinn ’22, ’24MEd and Dan McGlinn ’18 were married Sept. 20 in Philadelphia, with Rev. Lou DelFra, CSC, ’92, ’03MDiv presiding. Friends and family from Notre Dame gathered to celebrate the couple’s joyful union. Another beautiful campus wedding took place at the Basilica when Lucy Van Kula of Flaherty Hall married Thomas Davis of Dunne Hall on Oct. 25. Rev. Kevin Grove, CSC, ’09MDiv presided, and many alumni from the Class of ’22 and beyond returned to campus to mark the occasion. Teaching and married life are off to a strong start for Lizzie Todd, who recently married Charlie Eversman ’24MEd (ACE). Now Lizzie Eversman, she is teaching theology at Ursuline Academy in St. Louis and enjoying this new season both personally and professionally. We also extend warm congratulations to several classmates celebrating engagements and looking ahead to weddings later this year: Maddie McIntee and Tyler Bergeron, Olivia Balcer and Thomas Walsh, Alex Hicks and Brett Greiner, Maggie Marinovich and Jay Lokhorst, and Rachel Jennings and Jacob Calpey! As always, it is a pleasure to share these moments of faith, family and friendship. 22JD Wedding Bells
It is wonderful to receive news from my fellow classmates! I cannot believe it has been almost four years since we graduated from NDLS. Learning about everyone’s moves and life changes is truly heartwarming. I am glad we all made it out the other side in one piece and are thriving in both our careers and personal lives. Congratulations to Samantha Contreras and Henry Lay on their upcoming nuptials! We’re wishing you a beautiful and unforgettable ceremony full of love and joy! Congratulations as well to two classmates who had weddings that took place last year: Caitlin Dunnett to Jeff Britton in Naperville IL, and Erica Gray to Michael Goldhammer in Nashville TN! Additionally, congratulations to our fellow classmates Meghan Dalton and Nikhil Gulati on their engagement! We’re wishing them a wonderful marriage and amazing wedding. 23 Anthropology and Pyros and Weasels
Two anthropology alumni partnered on a publication! Sarajane Smith is first author on the publication “Conceptualizing Missingness: A Case Study in Rural Mississippi.” Jesse Goliath ’07 is second author. In January, Pasquerilla (East and West) alumni were reunited in Tampa FL. Among the Pyro and Purple Weasel reunion were Alex Noble, Ally Cornell, Asha LaBine, Bella Allen, Charlotte Leone, Ella Cate Hungeling, Katie Tingwald, Monte Odle, Sarajane Smith, Tess Jacobs and myself. Danny O’Shea and Matt Kianpour are halfway through their first year at the U of Texas Medical School at Houston. Lulu Romero has finished her first trial while working for Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago. Ryan Wachter and Claire Hackl ate a lot of donuts and ran in the Krispy Kreme Challenge hosted by NC State.
