10 Seeking New Class Columnist
Mary Margaret (Skelly) and Kevin Poczatek welcomed their daughter, Sophie Clare, in December 2025. Cathy (Zyra) ’10SMC and Jake Jeffrey decided it’d be fun to combine two stressful events, having a third child and moving to a different state at the same time. They don’t recommend it but are happy to be living with a big yard now in Charlotte NC and with a third daughter, Mary Catherine, born in August 2025. They miss Chicago and its proximity to South Bend, but are excited to fly Notre Dame flags higher than any SEC ones seen in the neighborhood this fall. 10MBA Signs of Summer
T.O. Seidel earned a promotion to managing director, head of European secondaries at William Blair, continuing his impressive run in investment banking in London. Tim Hannigan joined the executive leadership team at Wildeck Inc. in September as senior director of operations. Wildeck is a US manufacturer of industrial steel mezzanines, material lifts and safety guarding equipment used in warehouses, data centers, distribution centers and manufacturing plants to improve space utilization, safety and material handling efficiency. Outside of work, Tim lives in Wauwatosa WI with his daughter Emme and looks forward to hitting the golf course this season in between Emme’s soccer and softball games. Tim extends an open invitation to any classmates passing through the area to look him up for a coffee or a drink. Alice (Griesemer) Sheehan is the COO/CFO of AllSides, a media technology company focused on helping people get the full picture in our polarized political environment. AllSides’ work on the National Roundtable on Political Violence, hosted by AllSides and Newsweek last November, was nominated for a Webby in the Responsible Innovation category. The AllSides website also received a Webby Honor in the Responsible Information category. Please keep the news coming. 11 Fifteen Years and New Arrivals
We had a successful 15-year Reunion in June, thanks to the hard work and planning by Melissa Kaduck, our Reunion committee and class officers. Please share your stories from Reunion for the next issue! We hope to see some of you at the Michigan State game this fall. Now to celebrate some growing families: Beth Cotter and husband Russell Toth are excited to announce the birth of their first child, Riley Toth, born in August 2025. Ellen (McCready) and her husband, Jasper Van der Woude, welcomed the birth of their son, Jack, in December 2025. He’s their first child and they’re really enjoying it! Sarah and Mike Delach welcomed their second bouncing baby boy on Feb. 5. Aiden Leo Delach is blue-eyed and dark of hair and is challenging big brother Owen for the cutest thing his dad has ever seen. Theresa (Yerkes) and Frank Morris welcomed baby number five! Alexander Simon was born completely en caul and brings their crew to four boys and one girl. Riley shares a birthday with his dad and grandpa! Philip Hall and his wife are proud parents to two high-energy, joy-filled kids who keep life loud, funny and meaningful. By day (and plenty of nights), Philip is a pulmonary and critical care doctor with the privilege of caring for the most vulnerable of patients who enter the hospital. Erin (Hoffer) and Nick Vicino just welcomed their second child, a girl, Rose Katheen Vicino. She joins big sister Maya (2 years). Caitlin (Carlin) ’14JD and husband Erick Nevin welcomed their first child, Brianna Claire Nevin, on March 10. The victory march and alma mater are already a part of her lullaby repertoire. Heather (Hyland) and Mick Madden welcomed their fourth March baby, Mae Ellie, on March 23. Big brothers Finn and James and big sister Lilly are also so in love with her! Abigail (Jackson) and Chris Farrelly welcomed a baby boy in April. Colter Jack Farrelly showed up a little early but just in time to watch his first Masters Tournament. Their pup Madison, proud big sister, is thrilled to have a new tiny human to protect. Last and certainly not least, we want to extend our sincere gratitude to Kate (Clitheroe) Wasif for her incredible dedication and leadership as our class president for the past 15 years! I did receive word that a mini-reunion took place in Austin TX this past February with Julia Durgee, Becky Liu Hunt, Laura Fialkowski, Laura Schlax, Kate Weinstein, Kim Villani and Lauren McGlynn Houser all in attendance. Hopefully more of us are getting together! I also received word that the Johnny Joe Fishin’ Show is still going strong … way to go, John Madia! Dan Diamond and Shawn Do both texted me words of encouragement on my new gig, but they did not share any newsworthy events. That’s all I got this quarter. Keep the updates coming. 12JD Hope You Are All Doing Well
Greetings, fellow classmates! I have only a couple of updates to share this quarter, but they’re both good ones. First, Laura Ewan was appointed legislative chief counsel for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, a 600,000-member national labor union. Laura will head the union’s legislative and political department in her new role after spending the last six years as associate general counsel. Second, Alvin Adjei was excited to report that he finally broke the two-hour barrier in a race this April. When I asked him if he planned to keep racing competitively now that he broke that prestigious mark, he said he hopes to run many more 5Ks in the future. (But in all seriousness, Alvin did break his PR on a 5K this April, despite being given wrong directions from another participant that added 12 seconds onto his time. Alvin has not decided whether he will be filing suit.) Thanks for the updates. 13 Hello Friends
Thank you for turning to another column of the class updates. I actually received quite a few updates this go-around, so thank you! We’ll start off with weddings. Bobby Reichle married Beth Barker on March 16 in Chicago. In a whirlwind all within a year’s time they moved to Grand Rapids MI, planned a wedding and are moving to Vienna, where his wife will be completing a postdoc in philosophy. If you’d like to see Bobby, you can catch him at Comedy for Expats. He made some joke about small sausages, but just like in college I didn’t really understand the premise. Ryan Lion married Hayley Arceneaux in St. Francisville LA in April. You may recognize Hayley from her significant work with St. Jude’s, her time in outer space or her children’s books. The wedding brought in Dominic Lucero all the way from South Africa, Bobby Shields from who knows where, myself from beautiful Cincinnati, and Andrew McKernan and Gabe Delatte from down the street. The hospitality was so great that Dominic described the weekend as like having an Executive Club membership to Louisiana. We had another bit of a baby rush in the class as well. Ana and Matt Hernandez ’12 welcomed their fourth child, Sofia Olivia, in January. Ana tells me they can’t wait to take her to her first Irish football game, which will of course be to see a championship-winning team. Megan (Poloskey) Zimmerman and her husband, Eric, also welcomed their fourth child (Andrew) in March. Not to be outdone, Kaylin (Cook) and Mark DeDiana had their fifth baby in February. I am in absolute awe; my two kids really make me question my cardio fitness. Brian Brinig and his wife, Katie Feeney ’12, were married back in October 2024 with Dan Boyle, Killian Frailey, Kyle Kober and Brendan Ward all in attendance. He and his wife recently welcomed their daughter Eleanor in January. In professional developments Rev. Ryan Ackmann was appointed pastor of St. Joan of Arc in Nashotah WI and St. Catherine of Alexandria in Oconomowoc WI. He was previously at Burlington and Lyons. He wanted to pass along that he’s often looking for Mass intentions, and that you can find him on myNotreDame if you’d like him to offer prayers. After working for the city of Aspen CO for a year, Robin Sturgeon is still in Aspen but back in the healthcare tech world. But more importantly, she earned a 100-point day her first season learning to ski. Jenna Lytle said that Chris Grekowicz visited her and John to see the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. They are planning to attend the Notre Dame game at Lambeau Field this upcoming season and would love to meet any classmates there who are also attending. The next notes are due July 18. 13JD Bringing Back Bullshark’s Bulla Bonfire
Kelley Cross writes that Robert Cross’ oldest daughter, Olive, age 8, “informs anyone and everyone that she will be attending Notre Dame in the fall of 2036 despite my best efforts of brainwashing her to go to UCF and staying local. So guess I’ll be moving back to Bulla Road eventually. Go Irish!” I look forward to being one of the old people crashing Olive’s first bonfire. I’ll never forget Robert proudly announcing to the assembled on Admitted Students Day that the accomplishment he was most proud of was reeling in a bullshark. I bet Robert would say that Olive, Lucas and Lylah are now top of the list, but the shark would still probably rank …. The legacy law firms of Frost Brown Todd and Gibbons PC recently completed a merger to form FBT Gibbons, and our own Charles Galvin is heading up the West Chester OH office, home of 20 of the firm’s 700 attorneys. 14 The Things We Help Each Other Carry
Have you ever noticed how it is so easy to give help when asked, or to offer help when you see it is needed? We are the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame: We see those in need instead of looking past them, and we are united in a spirit of community that makes it expected — even natural — to offer our hand to our neighbors and friends in need. And yet, when was the last time you asked for help? When did you last ask someone to help you share a burden, without feeling like you yourself were the burden for asking? I saw something recently that stuck with me: a prayer asking for the grace and humility to put our worries in God’s hands, to put our fears, anxieties, stresses and troubles in God’s hands. To know that God does not see us as burdens, but that God wants us to give our worries to him, because God is our Parent. And isn’t that what every parent wants: to shoulder their child’s problems and ease their troubles? I know I would if I could. That’s the little thought I have to share with you today: Try giving someone you love the gift of trusting them with whatever you are carrying. I promise you this, my friends: You are not a burden. We don’t have many updates this edition, but the few we do have are absolutely delightful. First, I am delighted to share that Emily (Murphy) Ng and her husband, Aaron, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Francesca, on Feb. 6. Emily and Aaron, congratulations on your beautiful baby girl, and Francesca, welcome to the Fighting Irish family! Congratulations are also due to Renée Roden, who will celebrate her wedding to James Murphy in Harrisburg PA on Aug. 15 of this year. Renee and James have been living and working in Harrisburg running the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Worker for the past few years, doing everything from a 114-mile walking pilgrimage to running a composting garden for a local soup kitchen. Renée and James, congratulations on your wedding, and may your marriage be filled with joy and gratitude. I’d also like to take a moment to shout out Annie O’Brien, who is her friends’ biggest cheerleader and who has more than once submitted updates to celebrate her friends — Annie, keep it up!! This month, Annie would like to brag about Carolyn Haller, who is going to be a movie star! On a recent trip to Los Angeles, Carolyn joined an extras call for an upcoming Marvel movie and was cast! She won’t tell us what the movie is, so I guess we all have to go see them all and find her in the crowd. What a fun adventure — and welcome to the MCU, Carolyn! Finally, I’d like to wish a big “Herzlichen Glückwunsch!” to Joan Swanson, who gained her German citizenship this past November! This comes as the result of much hard work and dedication, so a very heartfelt congratulations to Joan — I hope you see this in Berlin! What a treat to celebrate our 10-year Reunion with you all this summer! Alyssa Armendariz has worked at Bell Flight for eight years and is currently fuel systems manager. Candace Castillo joined South Texas Business Lawyers as an associate attorney. Lily Crawford spoke at TEDx this spring on AI bias in medicine (“The Cost of Being Invisible”) and graduates from London Business School this summer. Josh Dempsey will serve as principal of St. Ann School starting this school year. Jamie Dykstra ghostwrites for business leaders; she partnered with Bob Whalen ’20MBA to create his book Beyond Your Ownership. Anna Gonzalez and rescue pug Poppy live in KC where she (Anna) works as post producer at VML. Jarron Jones retired from spring football after time with the Guardians, Bandits, Showboats and Stallions. Zoe (Rote) Kourajian teaches social studies at Mounds View Public Schools and was named MN National History Day middle school Teacher of the Year. Gabriela Leskur works as narrative and experience manager for Oxide Games; the “Ashes of the Singularity II” demo she and Erin Rice Smith worked on was Steam Next Fest’s No. 1 RTS game. Jennifer Mazanec is technical services consultant for TeamDynamix in Glenview IL. Michael McLean is president of YCP Chicago. Alexis Meruelo hosted the Business of Her conference on campus; featured on her ND Besties to Workplace Leaders panel were Meghan (Pfeifer) Corsello, Mary Hunter Hillel and Katie Dold. Meghan is senior investment associate with South Carolina Research Authority, Mary works at Amazon as consumer insights lead and Katie is senior director and municipal research analyst at Nuveen. She’s based in San Diego but has recently taken to the skies with her new pilot’s license. Dr. Rosa Yoon served this past year as chief resident in the Rush Department of Anesthesiology. Ed Zaleski works for Epic in FL as a technical services analyst; Mike Zaleski works for Merck in PA as a senior scientist for vaccine drug product development. 17 A Year Away from 10 Years?

The Class of 2017 keeps delivering. Among the most meaningful updates this season: T.J. Groden was ordained a priest in April — a profound milestone for our class and one worth celebrating. On the professional front, Kaley Cohen helped launch Denver’s newest soccer club, Denver Summit FC, and a few Babes went out to support this milestone. Amanda Schoenbauer joined Numerator as content marketing and insights senior manager, and Amanda Bartolini stepped into a senior enterprise project manager role at The Knot. Erin Reilly is now a product specialist at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, while Erin Hanahoe is pursuing her MBA. Richard Barrow started a new role as manager at Farient Advisors LLC, and Maura Dore is serving as chief resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Glen McClain was elected to the American College of Legal Medicine’s American Medical Associate Delegation as alternate delegate. Grace Nickels was promoted to senior counsel, labor and employment at IDEX Corporation, and Collin Kloc received the 2025 Outstanding Engineer Award at Honeywell FM&T. Courtney (Lefevre) Sturgeon earned the McDonald’s President’s Award, and Elle Scott was promoted to senior manager, HCP operations at Boston Scientific. Congratulations to our newly engaged couples: Amanda Brady and Brandon Neff, and Nicole Calderon ’18 and Brandon Burdine. Wedding bells rang for Sofia Morena and Cesar Castillo; Caitlin O’Loughlin and Andrew Hoagland; Lauren Kaye and Zac Morgan; and Alex Dalton and Scott Tully Jr. The Class of 2017 baby boom shows no signs of slowing. Hey, Class of 2018! It’s been a busy and joyous start to 2026. In January, John McDonough and Bailey Johnston were married in Washington DC at the Chevy Chase Club, with Ryan Hennessy, Andrew Curcio, Tyler Newsome and Marisa Brigati in the wedding party. The father of the groom, Patrick McDonough ’77, was also joined by his Zahm roommates Robert King ’76, Abelardo Cantu ’76 and Nick Basil ’76. Stefan Page proposed to Megan Sullivan surrounded by their loving families on Nov. 26, in Libertyville IL. Emily Catalano (formerly Bochenek) married Joseph Catalano in September 2024 in Chicago. Teagan Dillon married Brian Willis ’16 in June. Nadezhda Palma (née Braun) married Gabriel Palma on Jan. 2. Paulina Lanzagorta married her husband, Steve, in Chicago in January. Kelly Galakatos and Kyle Williams were married Feb. 14 in St. Louis MO. Jeff Melsheimer was recently married in Mexico City, a choice he made after running the 2025 Mexico City Marathon in a personal best time. He was joined by study abroad friends Carl Schiro, Will Tuchfarber and Tim McCabe. Colleen Halpin ’18, ’20MA is engaged to be married to Omar Bravo. They will celebrate their wedding in August at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Omaha NE. Kathryne Robinson graduated from the U of Maryland School of Law in 2024, passed the bar exam and began working as an affordable housing real estate attorney in Philadelphia. Kathryne is excited to announce that on Nov. 8, she was engaged to her amazing fiancé, Shamir Parham. They were married on June 12 in her hometown of New York City. Erin and Owen Lane have welcomed their first child, James Turley Lane. Natalie (Boone) and Adam Logeman ’16 welcomed the birth of Frederick “Freddie” Paul Logeman on Jan. 14. Abby and Ben Rosso ’17 had their first daughter, Lucy Ann Rosso, in December 2025. Maria (Gardner) ’19 and Paul Niehaus welcomed their third baby in May. They live in Phoenix. Elise (née Ehrenberg) and Joseph Ghirardo welcomed their second son, Harrison Kevin Ghirardo, on Aug. 26, 2025. They have loved every minute as a family of four and Theo has proven to be a fantastic big brother. Robin (Seay) Kruger and her husband, Adam, welcomed their first little girl, Cameron, in October. Robin’s former Welsh Fam roommates Bella Viducich and Danielle Bucci were present for the baptism. Robyn and Shane Conroy Jenkins are excited for the birth of their first child later this year. In career news, Evan Holguin started a new role as associate director of planned giving for Thomas Aquinas College, a liberal arts college with campuses in Santa Paula CA and Northfield MA. Nicholas Furnari recently started as the new director of strategic initiatives at the Shepherd Center in Indianapolis. Brand-new to Indy, he is looking forward to making new Domer friends. 19 Snapshot of Life
Every quarter, we try to capture a snapshot of where life has taken the Class of 2019 — and every quarter, I’m reminded how quickly things change (and how creatively class officers can justify taking up a disproportionate share of the word count). We’ll start there, of course: After five years of living together, Greg Bullen, Class President Michael Conlon and I (your humble class VP) have officially gone our separate ways as roommates. While the friendship remains intact, the lease did not. So sad I am not able to blame you two for the dirty dishes anymore. Meanwhile, Class Secretary Jane Driano shared some much more exciting news: She’s engaged! We couldn’t be happier for Jane as she begins this next chapter, and we’re looking forward to celebrating what is sure to be a beautiful wedding. Not to be outdone, fellow Class Secretary Eddie Griesedieck was recently promoted to director of NUTRL and will be making the move to New York City. We expect big things from Eddie — both professionally and socially — and wish him the best of luck as he heads to a city where “just one drink” has never once meant just one drink. Beyond the officer circle, the Class of 2019 continues to hit major milestones: Andy Nelson got married this past April in Chicago, surrounded by friends, family and a strong showing of Domers from around the country. Olivia Deye announced that she and Andrew Deye are expecting their first child — an incredible and joyful update that marks the start of a whole new adventure. And Kaitlin Powers is engaged and already planning an unforgettable wedding in Florence this fall — giving all of us a good reason to start brushing up on our Italian. What stands out most in these updates isn’t just the milestones themselves, but the way they reflect a class steadily building lives full of meaning — across cities, careers and communities. Whether it’s new jobs, new homes, new families or new beginnings, it’s clear that the spirit of Notre Dame continues to show up in how we celebrate, support and stay connected to one another.
