Summer is in full swing, and everyone looks ravishing with that post-five-year-reunion glow! I hope everyone had a great time at the reunion, and if you have any feedback or thoughts on how to improve the overall experience, feel free to drop a note to class21@nd.edu. We’re all ears! Special thanks to the volunteers and attendees who made it an unforgettable weekend. Without further ado, the much anticipated and highly sought-after life updates! As always, we will start aboard the love train. Kicking things off, Lauren McGovern got engaged on Dec. 12, 2025, to Derek Vander Hoff! Derek is a Michigan State alumnus and his family has their own dairy farm. Their wedding is set for November of this year in Plymouth MI. Bridesmaids include Michelle Barthelmas, Mary Brandt ’20SMC, Anna (Babiak) Kennedy ’20SMC, Marisa Ventura ’20SMC and Valerie Zaczyk ’20SMC. Sarah Holland and James Bellucci were married on April 11! Two 2021 alums who met at, you guessed it, Domerfest! Brooke Sabey and Ryan Miller were also recently engaged, as were Meg Burns and Jacob Winningham. Lastly for lovers, Molly Zachlin and Aditya Vashistha ’22MNA, ’23MS are engaged! Adi proposed to Molly in front of the Taj Mahal on Dec. 30. It was Molly’s first time traveling to India and meeting Adi’s family. Molly and Adi are currently planning their Catholic wedding in Cleveland this October and will also have an Indian wedding in Bikaner, India, Adi’s hometown, next spring. In academics, Michelle Moufawad is graduating from medical school and will start residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC, while Tess Marvin ’20 (but astrologically and spiritually ’21) graduated from Princeton with her Ph.D. in computational biology. In a blend of love and academics, Madeline McLaughlin graduated with her master’s in interaction design from Purdue U and now works as an assistant professor of graphic design at Western Carolina U! She also got engaged at the end of 2025 and will be married this year! In the arts, Charlotte Edmonds won an Emmy for her work as a sports journalist at NBC. Finally, in the category of “Ohhh, so that’s what he’s up to!”: The elusive rapscallion Sam Cannova started a tree nursery in his driveway, and recently summited the Rwenzori Mountain Range along the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo! It’s hard to believe that our five-year Reunion is June 3 - 6, 2027. Please spread the word and let me know if you’d like to join the Reunion planning committee. It will be an unforgettable weekend on campus, and our discounted five-year registration fee includes lodging in our co-ed, air-conditioned Young Alumni dorm. Text your friends and start planning. You don’t want to miss this chance to relive college. Congratulations to two of our classmates for being selected to join the Young Alumni Board. Our former senior class president, Timothy Gallagher, will be serving as the East regional director. Now in Philadelphia, Timothy will focus on helping young alumni navigate transitions to new cities. Peter Kalemkerian will be serving as the Central regional director and is an equity research associate finishing his MBA at Kellogg. Pete is a former Fisher RA and founding board member of the Financial Literacy Club. He will leverage his professional network to spearhead new career development initiatives and gameday engagement. Annabelle Lake and her husband, Ben Ruszkowski, welcomed a baby girl, Claire, in January. Congrats to Annabelle and Ben and we welcome Claire to the Notre Dame family! Mae Irvin finished her rotational program at Artisan Partners at the start of the year and is now a client and business services associate on the Sustainable Emerging Markets team. Chicago is, as expected, experiencing an influx of Notre Dame alumni with Anna Sproule joining the ranks! Anna is a solutions engineer at Cisco. 24 Learning, Serving and Celebrating
Shortly after graduating with his master’s from Notre Dame, Aaron Kornaker had his first day as part of the Class of 2030 at the U of Tennessee College of Medicine. Anna Falk is finishing up her first year as a Ph.D. student with the Indiana U School of Medicine in Indianapolis. She has decided to join the labs of Miguel Moutinho and Brittany Needham (likely in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology) with the intent of studying the role of the gut microbiome in protecting against Alzheimer’s disease. Mae Czerwiec earned her master’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics from Northwestern U. Meg Beuter completed her term as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Mtwapa, Kenya, back in October 2025. Since then, she has been back in South Bend working at the Robinson Community Learning Center in their youth development programs as an AmeriCorps member. This summer, she will start at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education as an Ed.M. student in teaching and teacher leadership! Madelyn Stout and Daniel Schermerhorn were wed in the Sacrament of Marriage by Rev. Bill Miscamble, CSC, on April 25 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on campus. Congratulations to Diane Musabese for being chosen to serve as the Midwest Regional Director on the Young Alumni Board. Diane is a mechanical engineer and former Meruelo Center Career Assistant, and is a powerful advocate for international and first-gen alumni.
