A Molarity wake up call.
295. This cartoon appeared in the 1980 Earth Day edition of The Observer. Events planned for the day included workshops on solar power and “teach-ins” on nuclear power in France. A photo depicted Badin students preparing a chariot for the weekend’s AnTostal chariot mud race.
296. I am told that I might have to explain to current students that once most students had class at 8 in the morning. The Observer reported that Joe Theismann returned to the campus to watch the practice. He also gave advice to quarterbacks, Tim Koegel and Greg Knafelc, two players in the proclaimed quarterback derby necessary because Rusty Lisch was graduating. Meanwhile Lisch, was voted Bookstore MVP.
297. The Observer ran the final installment of the series on dissent in the Speech and Drama departments transition to Communications and Theatre. Meanwhile the sports page continues to print football pictures even though it is April. This photo features Vagas Ferguson since he was taken in the first round of the NFL draft. Rusty Lisch went in the fourth round.
298. A big headline on The Observer notes “Kennedy may speak at ND” as Ted Kennedy pursues the democrat presidential nomination against President Carter. In the lost and found section: “Found: one basketball. Call to identify Mark 1655.” Um. It was round and orange?
299. A small headline on The Observer notes “Kennedy to skip Campus Visit.” Letters and reports in The Observer continued regarding the display, during the Earth Day celebration, of a sign which said “Nuke the Whales.”
