Photo of the Week: Spring at last

Of all of Notre Dame’s storied traditions, few are more time-honored than this one: If you’re lucky enough to get an actual spring day in northern Indiana, you had better spend it outside.

University photographer Barbara Johnston stumbled upon senior Mendoza students Meghan Brennan and Megan Sweeney as they soaked up the sun on April 26, just before the nice weather really took off (80-degree temperatures, anyone?) this week. Seminar classes decamped to the quads for outdoor sessions and slacklines emerged from winter storage for a few good days of use.

The long-awaited sunny weather shows no sign of letting up soon, but all that outdoor lounging might — the permacloud has lifted just in time for students to be cooped up inside for finals, starting May 7.

Photo of the Week is a new weekly series at magazine.nd.edu highlighting photos of notable happenings on campus and in the Notre Dame family around the world. Have a snapshot you think we should see? Email scahalan@nd.edu to be considered for publication.
