The Option for the Poor in Christian Theology

Edited by Daniel G. Groody (University of Notre Dame Press)

This collection of essays explores the option for the poor and marginalized in light of scripture, Christian discipleship, culture and other major world religions. The various writers pursue an answer to the question: How can one live a Christian life in a world of destitution?

Among the essayists contributing to the book are Gustavo Gutierrez, Hugh Page, Jr., Michael Signer and Mary Catherine Hilkert, O.P. They, along with the book’s editor, Daniel Groody, are Notre Dame theology professors.
