When Bob “Flash” Franken ’69 was news director at WSND, his 1961 Pontiac — painted in “sunset glow” — became the station’s official news cruiser, which entitled the vehicle to a valuable campus pass. Franken and John Hickey ’69 recently compiled a history of student radio at Notre Dame, “From Wireless to the Web.”
