With the current unrest in Egypt, Emad Shahin, Notre Dame’s Henry R. Luce Associate Professor of Religion, Conflict and Peace Building at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, has been called on for his insights by the news media countless times in recent days. Professor Shahin is an authority on Islamic law and political reform in the Middle East. Prior to joining the Notre Dame faculty, he was an associate professor of political science at the American University in Cairo as well as a visiting professor in Harvard University’s Law School and Department of Government.
