Managing editor John Nagy ’00M.A., on assignment in Uganda, was on the veranda at Pakuba Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park with Notre Dame theologian Father Emmanuel Katongole and Don Stelluto, executive director of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies. Their guide, Eddy Ocaya Bosmick, said, “Come and see my brother.” Up the driveway came an elephant, browsing for palm fruits that had fallen from the trees. “The elephant,” John reports, “took no interest in any of us, finished his snack, turned an about face and then scratched his backside on the trunk of a palm tree,” and walked away. But not before pausing long enough for a selfie.

Photo of the Week highlights images from campus and from the Notre Dame family around the world. Have a snapshot you think we should see? Email jkelly30@nd.edu to be considered for publication.
