Megan Koreman ’86
Holiday Market in Royal Oak, Michigan, is a family-run shop well-known for its cakes. Megan Koreman ’86 stopped in this week on one of her many errands during these days of families sheltering in place. Finding toilet paper — of a sort — on the shelf inspired her to snap this picture. Koreman, a historian, makes a point of documenting this moment in time for posterity. Her 2018 book, The Escape Line: How the Ordinary Heroes of Dutch-Paris Resisted the Nazi Occupation of Western Europe, draws on archival stories of clandestine bravery that saved lives during World War II, research with “deep emotional reverberations” that Koreman recounted in our spring issue.
Photo of the Week highlights images from campus and from the Notre Dame family around the world. Have a snapshot you think we should see? Email firstname.lastname@example.org to be considered for publication.
