Photo of the Week: You Gotta Regatta

As another school year draws to a close, some Notre Dame traditions are timeless: Finals-week jitters, pre-exam visits to the Grotto, and, of course, a bunch of homemade boats sinking in the Fisher Regatta.

University photographer Barbara Johnston captured this mid-capsizing shot at this year’s race, held on an intermittently snowy Saturday, April 27. The team pictured here (shockingly) did not win the annual charity contest — that honor, perhaps unsurprisingly, went to the competitors from Notre Dame’s American Society of Civil Engineers chapter, who took to St. Mary’s Lake in a concrete vessel called the Horton Hears Canoe.

Photo of the Week highlights images of notable happenings on campus and in the Notre Dame family around the world. Have a snapshot you think we should see? Email scahalan@nd.edu to be considered for publication.
