Lauren McLean ’97 is in her first year as mayor of Boise, Idaho. Elected in December 2019, she took office just months before the upheaval and unrest that have defined 2020. McLean spoke this summer with Jerry Brady ’58 — a former Idaho gubernatorial candidate and newspaper publisher — about the unexpected issues that arose early in her term, the challenges of leading one of America’s fastest growing cities and how she finds time to log her daily miles on Boise’s hills.
