Though classes weren’t in session from Friday, April 19, to Monday, April 22, Notre Dame’s campus was still bursting with life during last week’s break. It was Easter weekend, and the weather, especially on Easter Sunday, seemed perfect for the occasion. The sun shone brightly, the temperatures topped out around 70 — an ideal spring day. The students who remained on campus took to the quads, setting up hammocks, laying down blankets, and taking in all the day had to offer.

Our photo of the week this week comes from the night before: Holy Saturday. The Easter Vigil Mass was celebrated at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at 9 p.m. that evening, and University photographer Matt Cashore was on hand to capture the mid-Triduum sights.

Other Easter services at the Basilica included 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon masses, plus the ever-popular student Mass, held at 9 p.m. on Sunday night.

Photo of the Week highlights images of notable happenings on campus and in the Notre Dame family around the world. Have a snapshot you think we should see? Email scahalan@nd.edu to be considered for publication.
