2010s

10 Congrats to Amanda

Amanda Clark married her CA boy, Benjamin Harris, in Kiawah Island SC on June 7. Her bridesmaids included Jackie Doherty ’11 and fellow soccer teammates Michelle (Weissenhofer) Fumagalli and Rebecca Mendoza ’09. Amanda and Ben recently moved from Chicago to Charlotte NC and are looking to connect with fellow Domers. It was fantastic to see many of you at our 15-year Reunion at the beginning of June. I’m already looking forward to regathering for our 20-year Reunion in 2030. Let your classmates know what you are up to. Go Irish! — Matt Molloy; ndclass2010@gmail.com

11 Here Comes the Sun (and Some Babies, Too)

As the days get longer and the weather warms up, so do the life updates! From weddings and new jobs to welcoming future Domers into the world, our classmates are making the most of the season. Let’s kick things off with Christina (Tofani) and Andrew Bentz, who welcomed their second child, Anna Josephine, in May 2024. Amanda and Michael Belatti welcomed their first child, Joseph Owen Belatti, on May 21, 2024. Amy (Langnecker) and Eric Hersom are thrilled to announce the arrival of their son, Spencer Michael. He made his big debut on Christmas Day, and Amy thought he was going to be just the lucky charm the Irish needed to win their first national championship in her lifetime. Almost! Gracie (Fidgeon) and Ryo Isshiki welcomed baby boy number four, Charles Alfred Isshiki, on July 24, 2024. He joins brothers Oliver, Arthur and Teddy. On Dec. 11, 2024, Matthew Gring and his wife, Kirsten, welcomed their baby girl, Mia Lydia. After watching the playoff run in all her newborn ND gear, she can’t wait to visit campus and attend her first game this fall. Sean Poe and his wife, Rachel, welcomed their third child, Lily, in January. She joins ND superfans Andrew (4 years old) and Aubrey (2 years old). The family is enjoying life as a crew of five outside Charlotte NC. David Zimmer and his wife, Jessie, are welcoming a baby girl this summer, joining son Cooper (1.5 years old). David is finishing a surgical fellowship at Vanderbilt and has signed at the U of Louisville Health System. David and his family bought a house and will be moving this summer to Louisville, where David will be working as a head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgeon. Bryce (Durgin) Wargin went on Jeopardy! in April and had an incredible four-day winning streak! Congrats to Bryce on this once-in-a-lifetime achievement. Katie Dufner wed Alex Novack on May 3 in the chapel of her alma mater, Villa Walsh Academy. The wedding party included many Domers: her sisters, Emily Dufner ’19, ’22JD and Jane Dufner ’28, and fellow 2011 grads including childhood friend Paige Gesicki and PE Pyros Karla (Garcia-Huerta) Garcia-DiGioia MD, Isabel (Chirase) Walch, Amanda (Wilson) Breeden and Cara (Norton) Freitas. Many more ND alumni celebrated with them! On April 12, our very own Kate Clitheroe and Rafeel Wasif, together with a close group of friends and family, hiked forested trails and wandered past waterfalls, ate delicious ramen — and, oh yeah, got married with a breathtaking view of the Columbia River Gorge as their backdrop. Turns out, the best weekends are the ones that last a lifetime. Save the date for our 15–year reunion June 4 - 7, 2026 and email me if you’d like to join the reunion planning committee! — Caitlin Burke; class11@nd.edu

11JD Welcome, Clyde

Apologies, classmates, on being delinquent these past few editions! To explain for that, Lauren Sharkey ’08, ’11JD and Jack Byam welcomed Clyde Sharkey Byam on March 4. He was full of drama, requiring time in the NICU (cared for by some excellent ND doctors), but came home happy and healthy to older siblings Connor and Brooke. In other news, Danielle ’07, ’11JD and Alex Hermanny ’08MEd, ’11JD turned 40, I mean 21, slamming different jungle juice — aka soccer Kool Aid. I am still underachieving on updates here — so please help an alum out and email me with anything you would like to share — and even things you wouldn’t. — Lauren Sharkey Byam; shark.byam@gmail.com

12JD Homes and Gardens

Hello classmates! First and foremost, let me apologize for missing last quarter’s column. I actually had something ready to print (and with some of my best work to date), but Alvin Adjei sent me a cease and desist letter because I hadn’t included enough information about his new business venture in the initial draft. I’m happy to report we worked things out and I’m back in business. We have a few quick updates to pass along this month. Abhishek Kambli reports that he recently left the KS AG’s office to join the Department of Justice as a deputy attorney general. Sharon Lim left her role as a civil AUSA in the Northern District of GA to take a position with District Judge Tiffany R. Johnson’s chambers. Sharon worked with Judge Johnson at the US Attorney’s Office for quite a while, and is excited for this next step. Monica Schmucker took my call for any and all updates very seriously, and sent some excellent updates on her home and garden. First, taking full advantage of her location on the FL coast, she painted her house a lovely shade of turquoise that those of us in landlocked suburbs can only dream of. Her transplanted hurricane tomatoes are crushing it, and she recently added basil so she can make bruschetta and caprese on demand (year-round tomato growth being another benefit of a FL residence). Her cilantro plant is struggling, however, which makes the salsa aspects of her garden difficult. She hopes to have the full range of ingredients up and running by next quarter, and will let us know how it goes. A number of our classmates made their way to Atlanta in January for the national championship game, and two of them were lucky enough to score a babysitter recommendation from yours truly. And last but not least, as is required by our settlement, I am happy to report that Alvin Adjei recently became the silent partner in a high-speed go-kart business. I tried to get some details about why, but it was hard to hear him on the phone over the sound of the go-karts. Based on the photos I’ve been getting, I suspect Alvin joined the venture for free go-kart rides — it looks like he’s making employees take turns driving him around in a two-seater so he can pretend to be the Lincoln Lawyer. Anyways, keep sending updates my way! I love hearing from all of you, even Rompf. And as always, remember that the column below mine is written by a boy who spent his whole life in my shadow — if he chooses to lash out at me for missing the previous column, I ask you to give him the benefit of grace and understanding. Thanks! — Jimmy Champlin; james.c.champlin@gmail.com

13 The Better Champlin Column

I’d like to take a moment to apologize to the ND Law Class of 2012 on behalf of my negligent brother, James, for his failure to submit a column last issue. If I had known, I would have written it for him just like I wrote nearly every installment of his update in law school. Anyways, on to the intention of the column: updates from our illustrious Class. Michael Massman let me know, just a smidge later, that he married Meredith Sight in June of 2024. Happy first anniversary to the Massmans! Wesley Mullins married Malika Cohen on Oct. 16 in Beverly Hills CA. If you’ve been on campus lately and thought to yourself, wow the steelwork in Jenkins Hall, Nanovic Hall, McCourtney Hall and Shields Hall look fantastic, you can thank Wesley and his company, Lenex Steel. We had a bit of a baby rush — Joanna Sullivan welcomed Eliza Sloane in February. Kat Chew and her husband welcomed their daughter Daisy in April. Joanna, congratulations and I’m glad you’re all doing well! Kat Chew, bless you and your family. Not to be outdone, however, Megan (Buckingham) Krueger, Kat’s roommate, welcomed twin girls into the world. I wish many hours of sleep on the Krueger household. That’s all the updates I got, folks; please send some more my way the next time! — Chris Champlin; nd2013updates@gmail.com

13MBA Chill Spring

It was a chill spring, at least from the Class Notes. Dave McCain shot me a quick note to say that he was back at Oracle after a short stint in consulting. He recently was on a work trip to Houston and visited Jenna Lytle, who also is at Oracle. I always like to hear about classmates staying connected! John Lytle would’ve been there too, but he was double-booked. I also heard from Mary Jo Kerrigan, who said that she joined Equitable Advisors in January and is now building her own financial advising practice. The next updates are due to me by July 18. I hope to hear from you! — Nick Imgrund; 314-775-7364; daimgrund@yahoo.com

14 Sit With Me a Minute

You guys have been reading this column long enough by now to know that I don’t mind using this space to reflect a bit about what’s been on my mind. And because I’m writing this a few months before you’ll get to see it, it’s always a bit of a challenge to make sure that my reflections will still resonate with you by the time you read them. Today, I’m not worrying about that, because what I’d like to reflect on today, even though it may matter more than ever right now, is timeless. Out of respect for His Holiness Pope Francis, who passed away on the day I’m writing this column, I’d like to invite you, if you’ll spare the minute, to sit with me and pray some of the Prayer of St. Francis: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Thank you. I appreciate it. Now, would you like to hear what’s new? Because I’d love to share it! There are so many beautiful things happening with my lovely classmates, so buckle in! First, I’d love to announce that Nick Keleher and his wife, Katie, are welcoming their second child at the end of April. Baby Keleher’s big sister, Ellie, is 2 and can’t wait to meet him. By the time you read this, Nick and Katie, you’ll be getting those big baby snuggles, and I am so excited for you. Congratulations! I’m also pleased as punch to share that Rob McKenna and wife, Samantha, welcomed little Emmeline Louise to the McKenna clan on Feb. 4! Big brother Theodore (3) can’t get enough of his baby sister, and neither can we. Congratulations, Rob and Samantha! Finally, Jessica (Lencioni) and Austin Lagomarsino welcomed baby Caroline to the family in February. Big sister Kaitlyn (2.5) loves to snuggle with her little sister, because how could she not? Congratulations, Jess and Austin, and thank you for sharing your wonderful news! Moving along the list, I am delighted to share the professional and academic accomplishments of your classmates with you. To no one’s surprise, we are crushing it out there. At the March 2025 NASPA Conference in New Orleans, Rev. Beatrix Weil received the Outstanding Professional Award from NASPA’s Spirituality and Religion in Higher Education Knowledge Community. The award was in recognition of Rev. Weil’s “outstanding advocacy and dedication to transforming Rhodes College through creating prayer space, fostering inclusivity and creating a welcoming environment for Muslim students.” What an incredible recognition — we are so proud of you! Finally, Maria (Fahs) Finan ’14, ’16MA is sailing across the finish line for her EdD degree in Learning and Teaching in Social Contexts from SUNY Buffalo, with a diploma in hand this May. Congratulations, Maria! Can I just say: How amazing it is that our classmates are going on to be teachers, educators, parents and leaders? Sure makes Domerfest feel like a long time ago … I love you all so much — please send my love to your families and friends, keep spreading that light that makes you all so special, and don’t forget to keep sending me your updates! You know where to find me! Until next time, lots of love. — Lizzie (Helpling) Trebbien; ehelplin@alumni.nd.edu

19 Summer Updates

Our Class of 2019 continues to keep life interesting! Colleen Fink is stepping into a new adventure as the director of alumni onboarding for the Young ND Board, a role she’ll hold for three years starting in July — plenty of time to make her mark. Wedding bells are ringing for Carolina Botero and Sebastian Alvarado, who are tying the knot Aug. 2 in Colombia, and for Cliff Djajapranata and Katie Wiendenhoft ’19, ’21MEd, who got engaged in March 2024 and are planning a wedding this September on Long Island. Meanwhile, Nicole White and her husband, Devon Euto, have taken “putting down roots” to a new level by purchasing a golf course in Winthrop NY — fore! Melissa Angcaco and Steven Campi got engaged too, despite Melissa’s ongoing rivalry with her ACL. Speaking of ACLs, Hannah Scherer also joined the club, tearing hers and undergoing surgery. Apparently, we’ve discovered our Achilles’ heel: knees. On a brighter note, Claire Turgeon is putting her talent to work as a physician resident at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago, while Caroline Colella has turned her architecture degree into a creative new venture with her own stationery business. Keep those invitations coming, Caroline — our class has plenty to celebrate! — Michael Conlon, Dan Hopkinson, Jane Driano and Eddie Griesedieck; classof2019@alumni.nd.edu
