Leading the Notre Dame football team to a 12-0 regular-season record was all well and good, but head coach Brian Kelly experienced another a major milestone this season: He became a meme. Before the team’s flight to San Diego to play Navy, the coach and some defensive players posed for a picture that was posted on the official Notre Dame football Twitter account. Kelly knelt at the center of the image wearing sunglasses, holding a briefcase and neck pillow in the crook of his left arm, his right hand flashing what one Twitter user called an “‘Awkward Dad’ gang sign.” #BKHomeboy was born. By the powers of Photoshop, the kneeling coach has since time-traveled to throw deuces during some of the most iconic moments in history.
