Notre Dame has literally never had a football season like pandemic-impacted 2020. Sure, the Fighting Irish have won all their regular-season games before — with Brian Kelly this year joining Knute Rockne and Frank Leahy as the only coaches to have done that three or more times. Rockne even had some games canceled because of a pandemic. But unlike every previous season, there’s a conference championship game in the offing, next Saturday’s rematch of last month’s classic double-overtime win over Clemson.
